WRESTLING placed 5th in State Competition at the Tacoma Dome as a team with the following wrestlers placing:

"Former VHS student athlete Per Lars Blomgren won the NAIA National Championship for Simon Fraser University in wrestling on Saturday, March 3, 2000."
"Per Lars was also named Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament and becomes Vashon High School's third NAIA All-American wrestler, preceded by his brother, Anders Blomgren, and by Rich Wheeler."

Junior Varsity and Varsity matches
The Vashon High School wrestling program has consistently been a high quality program, placing student athletes at Regional and State matches, and consistenly placing in the top 10 at State as a team.
The Junior Varsity and Varsity teams compete in dual matches once a week and enter muti-team tournaments on Saturdays throughout the regular season.
Vashon High School hosts a prestigious wrestling tournament during the Winter holiday break in December.
Weigh in: 6:00pm; JV match start time: 6:30pm; Varsity match start time: 7:30pm
Season starts: Monday, November 15, 1999
Season ends: Saturday, February 19, 2000
Minimum practices: 12 per individual
Contest limit: 16 + Jamboree
