So, about 6:50 pm Friday night, the power goes out in Vashon Town for about 1,300 people. Loose Change is supposed to open at the Beer Garden at 7:00 pm. But the Carnival has its own generators! w00t!

The Quartermaster Harbor fireworks show has been financed by Islander Tom (formerly of Misty Isle Farms, now of Arizona) Stewart for 15 years. Tom's moved to Arizona and since passed away, so 2006 is likely the last show of this scale and magnitude we'll see for a long time. The size and quality of the fireworks show has become something of a Puget Sound legend, as witnessed by the traffic jam (bumper-to-bumper traffic up the Island Highway) after the show as a *lot* of people head north to the Vashon-Fauntleroy ferry.

This horse-drawn sleigh went by on Bank Road. I grabbed my camera and raced to my bedroom window and shot...
I love the gate, Japanese lantern and garden of the house across the street. It's even more beautiful after days of snow...
I had all the snow cleared off my car Saturday morning when I went over to Thriftway.
This is 26 hours later, on Sunday afternoon. It's still snowing...
